Supervisors are the pillars of success for the Company. They are often taken for granted to know everything that they are expected to know, and yet many of them could have been promoted from the ranks without much “supervisory skills” which are the critical success factors.

The three core skills that a supervisor “must have” in order to excel on his/her Job are, Skill in Leading; Skill in Communication & Giving Instructions; and Skill in Work Improvement.

This 1-Day Workshop on “Skill in Work Improvement” is especially beneficial for newly promoted supervisors and those who are next on line to be promoted, as well as existing supervisors who need a refresher.

In this Workshop, learners are expected to discuss their personal experiences and issues concerning work improvements at the workplace.

This 1-Day Workshop is recommended for existing managers and supervisors and all those with supervisory roles in the workplace, as well as people who are likely to be promoted as supervisors in the near future.

  Learning Methodology

The Course is facilitated by Ong Hong Him, the Master Trainer and Courseware Developer, applying the principles and techniques of adult education with the use of Work-Sheets, Case Studies, Flip Charts, Music, Presentations, Reflections, PPS, and other means of communication.

Learners are expected to come prepared with real life examples ofwork improvements they had made in the past, and/or real life examples of work improvements they have in mind for the future.

The process of learning is interactive and participative with lots of information sharing and group discussions.

At the end of the Workshop, learners are expected to apply the techniques of making work improvements and apply the 5-Step Plan for Work Improvement, when they return to the Workplace.

There will be post Workshop Reviews on the effectiveness of the Learning, including Follow-ups on the activities of the learners for the next 30 days to establish the ROI.

  About Instructor 


Ong Hong Him is a Practicing Management Consultant (PMC) in Human Resource Management (HRM), and a professional Trainer/process facilitator who specializes in behavioral-based and results-oriented training. He is the founder and master trainer for GetSmart Productivity System (GPS), which helps managers, supervisors, and employees to enhance productivity. He is an approved MOM WorkPro Work-Life Trainer, and a Fellow Member of the Singapore Human Resource Institute (SHRI).


His passion in adult education started in the early 70’s when he assisted the Ministry of Labor, Singapore in conducting evening classes for business owners, managers, and supervisors to equip them with the essential skills in handling employees “On-The-Job”. He played a part in supporting the industrialization of Singapore when he was an honorary member of the Board of Directors in Adult Education Board, and the Vocational and Industrial Training Board.

Hong Him is the co-author of “The Psychology in Recruiting the Right Employee”, and the author of “Secrets of Enhancing Productivity”, featuring the GetSmart series of courses comprising – Skill in Leading; Skill in Communication and Giving Instructions;
Skill in Work Improvement; Effective Workplace Performance and Review; and GetSmart TTT, which are approved courses under the SkillsFuture Credit Scheme.

He has 25 years of experience as HR Director in MNC’s and SME’s, plus 13 years of experience as an entrepreneur in manufacturing, and real estate businesses. He is a certified practitioner for DISC, CBCI, and has qualification in MBA, Specialist Diploma in Advanced Facilitation (SDAF), Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education (DACE),

Advance Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA), Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Diploma in Marketing, Diploma in Works Management, DMS, and others.

His passion for training and employee development brought him to places to conduct workshops, lectures, and tutorials in countries such as Vietnam, China, India, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, UK, Cambodia, Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. Since the early 70’s he has conducted training for more than 5,000 people
